Different Icelandic tour companies offer a day tour along the south shore. They will take to the foot of two glaciers; Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull, stop at two beautiful waterfalls; Seljalandsfoss and Skogarfoss as well as passing the famous Hekla on the way. You can read in more details about these places here on Iceland on the web and find all the tour operators through our link directory.
The following is a description of a South Shore tour offered by Nature Explorer on Super-Jeeps:
Enjoy adventure and the elements along the south coast in a magnificient day tour – and do it in style and comfort of our Super Jeeps. Our journey begins by driving east through Iceland´s countryside towards foot of Eyjafjallajökull massif where we stop at the clear freefalling waterfall of Seljalandsfoss. We take a short walk behind the waterfall and to feel the refreshing spray and drizzle from one of Iceland´s highest waterfalls. Refreshed we continue to Mýrdalsjökull, Iceland's fourth largest glacier and home of the famous volcano, Katla. After driving up to snow level on a mountain track we enjoy the incredible view and take an hour selv driving a snowmobile on the glacier. It´s big fun. On the way back we go offroading on the black sanded beach and if we´re lucky we might catch a glimpse of seals on the beach before we continue to Skogarfoss waterfall. On the way back, if time allows, we visit the small town of Hveragerdi, known for it´s many greenhouses and geothermal heat, before coming back to Reykjavik. Once in Reykjavik we will drop you off at your hotel or a restaurant of your choice.
